Classroom Reflections:

1st lesson of: stage combat

Today, we began learning "stage combat" which is a type of combat which is done on stage (and is often seen in movies) without actually hurting anyone. Today, we learned how to use knaps (making the sound of hitting something without letting the audience know it's fake), fake slaps and also fake punches. The rules used for stage combat are posted below. I also like this topic a lot as we get to be more active in class and is overall more fun to me.

Titanic play, Melodrama, 8AA

The crew:

The members were: Me (Sultan) as the Captain/Villain, Michael as the ship engineer (The person who "stuck it together with gummy bears", Carolyn as the Queen, Nikita as her servant and Daniel as the waiter/ship crew member.

Reflection:

I believe that our play turned out really well as we all tried to exaggerate all of our gestures and also (i think) planned out the story rather well. I, in particular, as the captain think i did a good job in terms off keeping to our characters, not smiling and not blocking too much (in some scenes it was unavoidable because of us having to talk to each other in a four, for example.) To improve, i think i could actually try to be even more melodramatic but i think i managed to be funny to the audience and to over exaggerate too. I also found this topic insanely fun because we could express ourselves a bit more and in particular, i enjoyed this play a lot.
